Leader technology usage analysis

Most leaders do not currently use technology to its potential.  As educational leaders, we should use the latest technology tools to become more efficient.  For example, I receive an average of 100 emails a day as a middle school principal.  If I changed one of my communication processes to blogs I would have more time to be in the classrooms to be an instructional coach for my teachers.  As a middle school principal, I also spend a lot of my time communicating with other administrators and central office staff. This communication between administrators wastes less time when we solve problems by posting ideas and collaboratively reaching consensuses. Teachers would also have more time to create meaningful instruction plans when they have fewer emails to read.  Most my teachers receive an average of 40 emails a day.  To reduce administrator to teacher communication we would post important information on blogs rather than continuously sending emails.  It is clear that students enter our schools with an innate sense of technology and in order for us to make decisions to improve their learning we need to use these tools effectively.
